Following a critically acclaimed and record-breaking sold-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Funny Girl, is back in London’s West End for the first time since the original Broadway hit transferred in 1966. 50 years on, the hit musical is now showing at the Savoy Theatre for a strictly limited run until 8 October 2016.

Featuring some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history, including “People” and “Don’t Rain On My Parade”, this musical classic tells the fascinating and bitter-sweet story of Fanny Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star, and her tempestuous relationship with gambler Nicky Arnstein.

This bold new production, with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill, a book by Isobel Lennart from an original story by Miss Lennart, with revisions by Harvey Fierstein, is directed by Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch & Spring Awakening on Broadway), and promises to be the must-see musical of 2016.

Special notes

Sheridan is scheduled to perform Tuesday through Saturday, with Natasha playing Fanny Brice on Monday evenings. This schedule is subject to change.

It was a fabulous show and perfect casting. The performance from Sheridan smith was outstanding. It was an uplifting experience and truly the best live show I have seen over many years. I laught and cried with emotion during the performance. I would recommend this wonderful show to all.

Suesan Wallbridge

mike boyle

Funny Girl was fantastic. Sheridan Smith gives a powerhouse performance

Giuseppina Tita

The musical has been gorgeous! Unfortunately I had a seat with restricted view (not declared during my booking).

Harry

The acting was great the choreography was great, but the volume was horrific. ON reaching high notes the singers seem shout and screech rather than sing. This is made worse by the amplification. I understand that is why some like, especially the young, but it has put me off returning to a music show.

Sian Lewis

Fantastic show! One of the best I've seen this year - and I've seen a lot!

Gillian Tapp

Funny Girl with Sheridan Smith was absolutely amazing.

Jason Wollington

It was simply superb - one of the best shows I have seen and if I had seen the matinee I would have sold a body part to see the evening show! Natalie Barnes led a fantastic performance and it was an honour to be part of the audience on the show's last week.

adrian vaughn cross
